We recently undertook a compelling project: replacing a single garage with a purpose-designed side annexe. This wasn’t just a “box” — we embedded architectural finesse and functional design into every corner.
Project outline & challenges:
- Built directly to the property boundary, linking with a neighbouring garage — engineered groundworks were essential to support structural stability
- A striking roof solution: exposed planed timber rafters inside, with insulation applied externally (rather than typical internal insulation) to keep the aesthetic clean and bold
- Interior design carefully considered: structural walls finished to harmonise with the ceiling, drawing visual continuity
- Incorporation of a ground-floor accessible WC + shower into the annexe
- New internal doorway cut through original wall to integrate the extension seamlessly into the existing layout
